That could mean a thousand years or a hundred. I think it will take us another 200 years to begin to understand the brain in relation to treatments and its own normative functions. The brain is the last frontier (thank you, Captain Kirk).

You spurred something else in me. All my life people have been saying to me, "Sell these songs," or "Pubish a self-help book," or "You should be on tour," or "Write your autobiography." And when I am sane, I say to these generous people, "What's wrong with what I'm doing now?"

Public ambition is not proper for the gentleman scholar, for whom all subjects are essentially hobbies (as in Sherlock Holmes' tome on bees upon retirement).

Thanks for what you said about my prose!C. You should be required reading for those wanting to now the day-to-day peaks and valleys of this affliction. Knowledge by itself I believe would offer some comfort to many folks.

Let me ask you, how far away do you believe medical science is from a comprehensive understanding of the brain and its many workings? The current drug cocktails seem to be blunt force instruments of limited duration. When will it be said manic depressio is 'cured'?

take care
normAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14879983.post-35370714668536145122007-01-05T13:48:00.000-08:002007-01-05T13:48:00.000-08:00most fun.most fun.Inconsequentialhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03543390380268105131noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14879983.post-9184879609032189592007-01-05T08:57:00.000-08:002007-01-05T08:57:00.000-08:00Funny, Jim, that's exactly what I told my shrink y...Funny, Jim, that's exactly what I told my shrink yesterday: "I've lost all filters."C.
